Where is the interior fuse box on a 2012 Honda Civic? ›

The interior fuse box is on the driver's lower left side. The secondary under-hood fuse box is next to the battery.

Your fuse box will have two sets of fuses. At the bottom will be 15-amp and 20-amp screw-in fuses with glass faces that are exposed and visible. These fuses will service branch light circuits and outlet circuits. At the top will be 30-amp or 40-amp cartridge main fuses for ovens, laundry rooms, or stoves.

The fuse's wire conductor breaks when the current exceeds the ampere limit, which manufacturers usually define along with different color codes on each fuse.

The internal fuse box protects the interior cabin components, including lights, radio and powered controls.

Fuses come in different amperage ratings depending on need, and they're color-coded to indicate that amperage. The fuse box typically has a diagram on the bottom of the box lid to show which fuse is for which component.

This is usually on a sticker or sometimes printed or embossed directly on the appliance. This example shows an appliance with a power rating of 1200W, so a 13A fuse should be used. It's important to note that the 700W rule is a guideline, and there may be exceptions for certain appliances.

The fuse that you're looking for will usually be the “lights” fuse, although it can differ from one vehicle to the next. The only way to know for sure is to locate a wiring diagram for the specific make, model, and year of your car, but checking out all of the fuses labeled “lights” or similar is usually good enough.
